Covid in Leek

01 Jun 2021 | BY talentum

We are seeing an increasing number of cases of Covid in school. Testing has indicated that some of these cases could be one of the new variants of concern, although this has not yet been confirmed.

We are now asking everyone who attends St Edwards Middle School, Westwood College, Leek High School and their households, to get a PCR test as soon as possible. In addition, we are asking anyone who attends any of the other Leek schools and their households to get a PCR test as soon as possible. Any positive results will be genotyped to check if they have a variant of the virus so that we can try and stop it spreading. Please do not have a lateral flow test – these are not as accurate and cannot be genotyped, so may miss cases of these new variants.
