    Year 9 History – Spring Term

     

    PROGRAMME OF STUDY

     

    The Home Front in World War One.

    • Students will study the impact of the War on Britain and how everyday lives changed. They will look at the impact of the Defence of the Realm Act (DORA), rationing, propaganda, recruitment etc
    • Students will look at the success of the Defence of the Realm Act? Did it achieve its aims?

     

    The changing role of women and the gaining of the vote

    • What was the situation facing women in 1900? In what areas of life was their inequality?
    • Investigation of the different groups campaigning for the vote – Suffragists and Suffragettes. Aims/tactics/ strengths/weaknesses
    • The role of women in the War – what jobs did they do? How did this change attitudes?
    • Why did some women get the vote in 1918? Compare the impact of the Suffragists and Suffragettes campaign and the role of women in the War.
