Head Of School's Welcome
Head Of School

Dear Familes,

I am delighted to welcome you to Westwood College, where respect, resilience, ambition, and pride are at the heart of everything we do. Our College educates students aged 13 to 18, offering a continuous and supportive journey from Year 9 through to our thriving joint Sixth Form with Leek High School. Set within the beautiful grounds of Westwood Hall, a Grade II listed Jacobean-style building constructed in the mid-19th century, our site has a rich history. Originally a 17th-century manor house and later a girls’ school from 1921, it became the mixed comprehensive school it is today in 1980. This heritage provides a unique and inspiring environment for learning and personal growth. As Head of School, I am excited to be working closely with Miss Sue Atkinson, Executive Headteacher of Westwood College and Leek High School, to ensure that our shared commitment to high standards and student success offers every student the opportunity to excel academically and personally.

At Westwood, we recognise that each young person is an individual with unique talents and potential. We are dedicated to inspiring students towards ambitious futures and ensuring that every student achieves their best. Our committed staff work hard to deliver a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum that nurtures confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. We take great pride in our students’ achievements and the strong sense of community that thrives here. Whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or through our extensive extra-curricular activities, students are encouraged to take pride in themselves and their College. I warmly invite you to explore all that Westwood College has to offer and to join us on this shared journey to inspire and empower every student to flourish academically and personally, so they are fully prepared for life beyond school.

Kind Regards,

Rowena Jukes
